Saturday, March 5, at sea

Our cruise route was from Miami directly to the southern end of the Windward Islands (Lesser Antilles). Then we worked our way back north up the island chain. In retrospect this was probably a good plan, as we had two days to relax and explore the ship at the start, when we were fresh, before beginning excursions.

Here's a map of our journey.

This map shows all the islands in greater detail.

Our first order of business after breakfast was to enjoy the warm sunny air, a welcome change after leaving frosty Raleigh. We took a dip in the hot tub (four of them on deck 12) and then got some sun. (I got a sunburn.)

Jan was loving this.

She couldn't get enough of it.

Unlike me, Jan had the discretion to stay out of direct sun (and to use lots of sunblock), so she avoided a sunburn.

In the afternoon we watched a movie, Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow.

Our cabin stewards, were a pair of Filipinos, Antonio (Tony) and Daryl (a female who pronounced her name Darr-yil). They amused themselves by making an animal from the fresh towels each night when they turned down the beds. This day, Jan left her sunglasses out, and they wound up as part of the dog.
