Since we returned to the ship early, Jan was able to take an early nap. She awoke and joined me for my daily walk around the promenade deck, just before 5:00 PM.
Jan poses midships on the port side.
Once again, we are blessed with calm seas and gentle breezes, as the sun begins to sink.
Jan, in deep thought.
And sharing the thought with me.
Jan poses by the fire nozzle.
Jan tells me how happy she has been on this goodbye trip.
Jan and Ricky Matthews, the cruise director. Ricky was doing a show called Live at Five (at 5:00 PM, naturally) at Champagne Charlie's, a lounge on deck 8, and also broadcast on the ship's TV channel. He was calling out actions. The first person to perform the action or answer the trivia question won a small prize. Jan won several prizes. One was a free massage, which she collected the next morning. I won a Drambuie mug by being the first to respond to a call to drop and produce ten pushups. A really cute, but blushing, twenty-year old blonde won a prize for being the first to arrive from her cabin wearing only a towel.
Ricky and the other announcer look for more trivia questions.
The Norwegian Cruise Line's Freestyle policy permits "Resort Casual" wear to any dining area, any night, but designates a few nights as "Optional Formal" for those who choose to dress. Jan and I dressed up on these nights, to look nice for each other. The Grand Centrum is the most formal area of the Norwegian Spirit, with dramatic twin staircases between decks 7 and 8. Jan poses on the staircase. Usually she hides her exhaustion, but it peeps through here.
Jan clings to the railing.
An attractive pose on the staircase.
How beautiful she is!
A kind Canadian from the excursion staff takes our picture. Jan smiles in reassurance as my arm goes around her.
We eschewed the buffet and went to one of the formal sit-down restaurants. Here Jan waits peacefully for our table to be ready.
Jan smiles as we wait, sitting on the seat of the rollator.
Later that evening, at 9:30 PM, we went to a show. We were able to use handicap-accessible seating in the Moulin Rouge balcony. We enjoyed a show called "ON THE RADIO", a "blast from the past paying tribute to the blockbuster hits from the 60's through to the 90's, featuring the Norwegian Cruise Line Production Company."
Jan has always enjoyed musical entertainment, and she loved this show.
A rabbit greeted us upon our return to the stateroom at 10:30 PM. Do you see the Time Change Notice that was left for us? Well, I saw this one, indicating our return to Eastern Time from Atlantic Time, but I didn't see the previous one, Saturday, March 5, and spent half of Sunday being confused.
The bunny is sleeping and soon Jan was too, exhausted from the day's activities. I awoke in the middle of the night, and thought she was talking in her sleep. After I listened a bit, I realized that she wasn't talking--she was singing a happy song.
